Lost her daughter just two days after arriving in Sweden, where did she go?
Alicja Lutostańska arrived in Malmö with her daughter Bożena on the early morning ferry on April 28, 1945. Bożena died just two days after their arrival in Sweden. She was only 28 days old. On the ferry Alicja fell off a bench and hit her head, this is why she is wearing the white head bandage in the picture from the archive film. After arriving in Sweden Alicja decided to move back to Poland. In 1989 Alicja was part of a polish tv-program together with other women and mothers who arrived with the White Buses. Alicja talked about her journey from the concentration camps to Sweden and the loss of her daughter.
