Had a daughter with a German man. But Germans could not sociale with Jews. Then married a Chinese man. Did this help her?
Born as Rosendorff in Berlin, Germany, in a Jewish Family. Emma Esther was engaged to a German man and had a daughter with him. After seeing each other secretly for a while, they separated, as it was no longer allowed for Germans to socialise with Jews. Emma Esther then married the Chinese man Yang Se Po. They had a daughter together and Emma Esther was in some ways protected due to her Chinese marriage. Emma and her husband did not live together and she has told that she wore the yellow star, when she was with her oldest daughter, and that she took it off when she was with her husband. Emma Esther was taken to Ravensbrück and her oldest daughter was evacuated to an orphanage in Cottbus. Her youngest daughter died from a lung infection during the war. Emma Esther was not re-united with her oldest daughter until 5 years later in Sweden. Emma Esther arrived in Malmö on April 28, 1945 after being evacuated from Germany by the Swedish Red Cross.
