Maria Górska

Maria Górska was captured by the Germans during the Warsaw Uprising in 1944 and deported to the Stutthof camp. When her pregnancy became visible she was moved to the Ravensbrück camp. There she gave birth to her son Piotr, on April 19, 1945. One week later she and Piotr were rescued by Red Cross to Malmö, Sweden. At this point Piotr weighed only 1,4 kg and was baptised shortly afterwards, as they were afraid he would not survive. Maria and Piotr returned to Poland after recovering. Today Piotr lives in the small town of Drezdenko, west Poland.
